Your Safety Matters

This is the easy-read version of our Safeguarding Policy.

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding means keeping you safe. Every lesson should feel safe. If one doesn't, tell us.

  • You can speak up if something doesn't feel right.
  • You won't get in trouble for telling us.
  • No worry is too small to tell us.

In your lessons

  • Every online lesson is recorded. This keeps you and your tutor safe.
  • You and your parent or carer can watch your lesson recording for 7 days after it. Your tutor and some of our staff can watch it too, and we keep a record every time anyone does.
  • Recordings are deleted after 90 days, unless we need one to keep someone safe.
  • Your tutor will never ask for your phone number, address or social media. All messages go through NSEMM.
  • Lessons are mainly in English.

Things you can tell us about

  • A tutor saying or doing something that makes you uncomfortable.
  • Someone asking for your personal details.
  • Bullying, online or anywhere else.
  • Problems at home, or worries about your mental health.
  • Anything that just doesn't feel right.

How to get help

  • In danger right now? Call 999.
  • Use our report form. You don't have to give your name.
  • Email our safeguarding lead: [email protected].
  • Tell your tutor or anyone who works with us. They will pass it on.

We look at every report, and we act the same day if it is urgent.

Will my parents be told?

We will talk to you first. Sometimes we have to tell other people to keep you safe, but we will tell you who and why, unless that would put you in danger.

AI

Our safeguarding system never uses AI, and what you tell us about your safety is never sent to any AI.
